Difference Between Yamaha R1 Sp And Le?
I have been looking at 2006 yamaha r1 50th anniversary motorcycle and noticed there is a sp and le model. what is the difference? i know that yamaha made a limited edition bike with full Öhlins suspension and marchesini wheels in the 50th anniversary colors which were numbered 1-500. but i also see other r1s in the 50th anniversary colors that are not numbered. is one of these bikes the le and the other the sp? Yamaha R1 As A First Bike Problem?
I don 't understand every-ones suggestions to first timers buying a sports bike as there first bike. whats the difference between someone who has never driven a car before and a bike? people say you can lose control of the bike fast and kill yourself. the same thing can be said with a beginner in a car. i 'm 6 '1 185 and i just brought a r1 last month as my first bike and i don 't have any problems controlling it at all and i never rode a bike in my life. i think it boils down to being aware of your surroundings and knowing your limits. not every new bike rider takes there bike up to 150 to "test " it. if your a responsible person then i don 't think it matters what you drive. your risk of injury will be the same. p.s being 29 and with a bike the insurance sucks (Read answers)

2009 Yamaha R1 Ticking Noise?
Hi! i just bought a new 2009 yamaha r1 today, when i pulled in the clutch and rev the engine a little without letting off the clutch it makes ticking sound in the beginning, just a little, only notice in first gear.is it normal? and i find it is very hard to get into neutral. odo 137km (Read answers)

I am looking at getting a 2007 yamaha r1. i used to own a 2001 gsx-r 600, that i rode for about 3-4000 miles on. i havent ridin in about 6 or 7 months. how is this r1 on gas mileage, and how is the throttle response and all that good stuff. i remember the throttle response on my gixxer was pretty touchy. Hi, yesterday i stopped at a red light, i try to shift into neutral, and my bike can 't get into any gear, and the gear indicator should show the number of gear the bike engage, and " - " for neutral, instead it shows blank, i tried to click a few times and it is still fail, and after the 5th times i finally click into the first one.what i should look into?the bike is still new, 600km odo, first oil change yamalube 20w-40. How Can I Repair My 2002 Yamaha R1 Which Was Damaged By Thief?
Hellow, i need your helps....a couple of weeks ago, my underground parking was broken in, and thief tried to steal my 2002 yamaha r1 motorcycle. he broke my ignition key column, cut the cables where cables go into the ignition key, tried to re-wire to start the machine. somehow, he failed to start, and luckily my bike was there afterwards.soon after the incident, i purchased a new ignition key assembly, and connected cables to appropriate connectors. then recharge my battery to its full capacity.i follow the standard starting procedure as usual. first shift the transmission into neutral and place engine stop switch in the run position. then turn the ignition switch on.when i turn the ignition key, the main lcd panel turned on, swing the rev meter needle swing, fuel pump turned on, as usual. however, the neutral indicator light, the oil level and coolant warning lights did not turn on, and of course, when i push starter bottom, nothing happens other than one of the warning lights momentarily turned on red.my question is, now what should i do? should i replace ecu? or, something i am missing to connect/ reset/ check?any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you very much for your helps in advance, and i am looking forward to hearing from you.sincerely, (Read answers)

I heard it is the slowest compare to other 1000cc such as zx10r, cbr1000rr, gsxr1000 etc in a straight line. the yamaha r1 happened to be weak because of the us spec or it is the same thing happened for the one with euro spec? (Read answers)

One of the rivets on the exhaust tip is loose so it has a small rattle and there is one small chip in the paint on side plastic. nothing else is wrong, runs great (Read answers)

Ok, i know how powerful yamaha r1 is. i know it is a terrible beginner bike. but, i thought about this. since i am taking msf to learn the proper way to ride bikes, i thought about buying a 2012 yamaha r1 for track use only. even though track are a lot safer riding on, will it still be a good decision on buying a r1? or should i start on a 600cc sportbike for track days. i just don 't want to buy a 250cc and learn how to ride on a track. track are meant to release the power and learn your limits on the bike. please no bashing me or being rude. i 'm just curious. thank you (Read answers)
I Want To Trade My 2009 Ninja 250r With A 2006 Yamaha R1?
I went to the dealer ship and i found an 06 yamaha r1 with 15,000 miles on it, i asked if i can trade my 09 ninja 250r and pay off the difference with cash. my ninja 250r got 7,000 miles on it and got draped couple of times and got cracks and scratches on the firings and need new tiers but the engine runs good.the 06 yamaha r1 is on a good condition and runs good. they want 4400 cash with my bike so i can get the yamaha r1. is that is a good deal or not? What is the best full system to put on the bike? (best sound, performance, and look 's). the bike is going to be a city bike but it is also going to see allot of track days this summer, and since we are on the subject of track days, i know the r1 is made practically track ready.. if the bike is lower 'd an inch or 2 so the feet would touch the ground while sitting in a stopped position have a big effect on the performance? I was moving back to az and i was wondering which bike to get? i am going to be getting a used one, but not a junker of course. something in the $5000 dollar range. suzuki is the best performer i think but i don 't want to be replacing parts left and right. honda seems to be over priced, but yamaha goes for about the same. i think r1 are hard to find. my friend has r6 and he says its awesome, but he admits that he suzukis are better. what do you all think? price in a prominent point in the purchase. i want the most bang for the buck. thoughts?
